Beach Meets : Cachete Jack
Cachetejack are Nuria Bellver and Raquel Fanjul, a Spanish illustration duo based in London. They describe their Illustration universe as being full of colors, energy, humour and irony. You may know them for their playful illustrated books and prints. They aim to create a sort of narrative within their illustrations, that the viewer can relate to. We’ve always loved the work of these guys, and presented some of their books at our Beach space at Pick Me Up this year.

Hi Cachete Jack! Hows things?
Hey! Quite good for the moment!!
How long have you two been working together?
We have been working together since 2011.
Are you based in London?
Yes we moved last august but now we are traveling around quite a lot!
Tell us a bit about your new riso book!
We think about the hard way and the processes of being an illustrator. We wanted to express this in a small illustration zine. It starts with how we think, our ideas world, how to make those ideas physical and how experiences help you create.
Are you collaborating with any other artists at the moment? Or in the near future?
For the moment we just work together, but from time to time we do mural paintings with friends, just for fun!
Who/what inspires you?
General life and experiences. Fears that you want to pass, goals, people…
Where do the stories within your work come from?
They come from our inspirations or our mood. All of us are growing up and we are passing through different “life stages” so all depends about the moment we move on!
What exciting things can we look forward to next for Cachete Jack?
Some trips, an artist residence in Austria next year. Right now we are working on some children books and also we are planing our new “own story book”, hopefully for next year! Nice summer ahead!
