If you want something to do other than Christmas shopping or iceskating, then it is defo worth checking out the latest exhibition by Derek Mainella at Castor. Known for his colourful and dynamic abstract paintings, Mainella’s show – ‘Comfort Zone’ – offers a space where one can commune with fellow ‘sufferers’ for a momentary respite from the growing noise outside.’
Mainella has reclassified the concept of a gallery space, turning the exhibition into more of an interactive coping space for sufferers of so-called ‘first world problems’. Dark walls and a padded floor aid the visitor’s relaxation, whilst the on-hand gallerist might help with certain basic stress reliefs such as phone charging, directions, etc.
