On March 31st the AOI are hosting an informal chat with Sue Gent and fellow illustrator Caroline Pedler about finding your creative voice & ways to make your work personal & distinctive.
As the world becomes a more fractured and challenging place, it’s more essential than ever that we, as illustrators, foster our individual creative voices so we can build trust, confidence and agency in being unique.
It can be hard to make your work stand out in a sea of images, but by paying attention to the things we pay attention to, we can begin to recognise the patterns we create.
Understanding more critically how and why we create can be hugely beneficial in unlocking the personal stories that can help shape our visual language and practice.
It will be a relaxed and informal talk, with plenty of time to ask questions!
Caroline Pedler runs masterclasses in illustration and mentors in art and Illustration in her home county of Cornwall and online, and currently works as a part-time lecturer on BA Illustration. She also leads the MA Illustration pathway at Plymouth College of Art.
