We’re delighted to present an upcoming show from London based manual screen printers here at Beach Gallery
Manson’s Press presents, Canon – The Art of Modern Day Icons, an exhibition of screen prints, celebrating the pioneers, innovators and masters of the last 50 years. Those who are creators of great art, technology, science, entertainment and spirit that are to be recognised as the new saints for a new era in the new Canon.
The Canon is a list of Saints, people from history that have performed miracles and feats of overwhelming good – those who have faithfully made it into a Church’s good books
From artists (Luke the Evangelist) to arms dealers (Adrian of Nicomedia) – there’s a patron saint canonised for every profession or passion.
Printers have shared the patronage of St Augustine of Hippo with Brewer’s since 1268. His love of a party in his younger days bonds him to brewer’s and his love of shared knowledge in his later days attaches him to printers.
The show draws on stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, from the mundane to miraculous, to honour and exalt the histories and traditions that inform our work today.
The artists have chosen their additions to the list, drawing on their story and deciding their patronage, to create a 400mm x 500mm 4-colour screen print. Hand printed by Manson’s Press with Screen tec Print Essentials Ltd, they will be available to buy from the exhibition on the 23rd of August at Beach London and from the Manson’s Press online store from the 24th of August at 9am BST.
Limited to editions of 50.
